Cross Keys’ Guide John Blackmon was born on the famed Maytag Plantation, Sedgefield's, and has worked with bird dogs all his life. He grew up working for Mr. George Hardin (Mr. Maytag's plantation manager) and knows what it takes to have a quality hunting dog as well as a quality quail hunt.
Cross Keys’ Guide Marion Davis has handled and trained bird dogs all his life. Like John, Marion followed his father's footsteps and worked on the legendary Sedgefield plantation for Mr. Hardin. The bulk of Marion's career has been spent handling dogs and hunters for the late Mr. Herb Holmes of Gunsmoke Kennels. Marion has been with Cross Keys for more than five years and you will not find a better bird dog handler or quail hunt guide anywhere.
We have a kennel of the finest bird dogs any one has ever seen handled by our professional handlers and guides. Our guides know basic first aid and are CPR certified. They have more than 50 years of experience in the bird hunting field and know what a good bird hunt is all about.
